Our mission is to provide high quality mixed martial arts classes to the Ely area. As a club we pride ourselves on our unparalleled safety standards and provide a friendly and welcoming class atmosphere open to all.

Ely MMA

MMA stands for Mixed Martial Arts

It is a highly popular combat sport that combines the most effective techniques from various other martial arts including Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ), Muay Thai, Boxing, Wrestling, kickboxing, Karate and Judo.

All of our coaches are highly trained with over 20 years combined experience in martial arts, fully insured and first aid trained. Based out of the Hive leisure centre in Ely, we offer the largest training space in Cambridgeshire at over 200 square metres.

Why choose us?

Our club specialises in beginners wanting to start their martial arts journey. Starting martial arts can often feel overwhelming for beginners which is why our curriculum is presented in an easy to understand and accessible way.

We run a 4 week beginners course every month which provides an un-intimidating and easy onramp into our main classes. In the beginner course you will receive 2 small group private training sessions per week which cover:

The basics of training safely

How to throw the main striking techniques used by professionals

How to avoid getting hit

The basic grappling techniques used in MMA

Training requires dedication and discipline which can instil valuable life skills which can be applied outside of the gym.

There is so much to learn, it is very difficult to get bored. MMA incorporates many different martial arts including Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, wrestling, kickboxing, muay thai and boxing. This leads to practitioners having a broad range of martial arts skills.

Our gym fosters a sense of community and camaraderie among members, providing a supportive training environment with like-minded individuals.

Training martial arts engages the entire body and will improve strength, endurance, flexibility and cardiovascular fitness. Best of all MMA training will get you into excellent shape while having fun learning practical skills.

Ely MMA prides itself on providing the highest safety standards in the training room. Each training pair is given at least 12 square metres of room to train. We do not encourage hard sparring (or even recommend any sparring for beginners). All of our instructors are also first aid trained.

MMA requires strategizing and problem solving which is not only fun to play but will enhance your cognitive skills.
